notes
pattern:
Wingeo #216 (rump)
fabric & notions:
cotton, fiberfill, cotton twill tape
general notes: This pattern was highly recommended to me by Jenni.
This garment was easy to cut and assemble but time consuming. Stuffing with fiberfill usually is, plus there was a certain amount of hand stitching to do. Still it only took the afternoon from start to finish.I used an old white sheet as my fabric. Old sheets are so handy.
Per useal I altered the pattern slightly. I found that the rump didn't sit well on my hips with the little center pleat in so I took it out. It was pretty with the pleat but my hips are too big for the pattern I think. I also omitted the waistband. I basted the rump closed then bound it with a length ¾ " cotton twill tape folded in half. All by hand of course.
The rump turned out bigger than I thought it would be. I stuffed it too much orginiall so I had to take some of the stuffing out. I didn't want to mess with the waistband (which had been done by hand). So, I worked from the other end. I used a seam ripper to make a 2-3" hole in the bottom seam. I then removed what turned out to be quite a bit of stuffing. When I originally stuffed the rump, I was going on the assumption that the originals, made of cork, would have been tightly packed. They obviously weren't using the Wingeo pattern. Or had my butt.
Eventually I managed to get the rump to a size I'm happy with. *throws confetti*
