general notes:
So I really WAS going to be a good girl and wear something from the closet for our last outing to the farm but at the last minute decided I really want something spiffy for the occasion. Well it was really the combination of the Farm, koshka_the_cat recently sending me the leftover taffeta from her Robe de Style and news of an 18th Century Ice Cream Social at Costume College 2010 - I mean how can I not?

I may be touched but I'm not completely crazy so I essentially made a jacket version of my most recent 18th century garment, the Bellini dress. I had to adjust the fit slightly (Weight Watchers rocks!) but that was it. The double ruffle was based on an extant jacket in a private collection and the trim was based on this fashion print. The styling of my Frosting Hat was also based on the print.
